Last Modified Date: December 17, 2024

Ocean State Job Lot values your business and cares about your privacy.

This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") describes how Ocean State Job Lot and its affiliates (collectively referred to herein as "OSJL", "Company", "we", "our" or "us") collect, use, and share information about you and applies to your use of any online service location that posts a link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Site"). It also applies to your use of all databases, features, plug-ins, applications, content, downloads and/or other services that (i) we own or control and make available through a Site, and/or (ii) that post or link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, with the Site, the "Service"), regardless of how you access or use it, whether via computer, mobile device or otherwise. It does not apply to our data collection activities offline or otherwise outside of our Service (unless otherwise stated below or at the time of collection).

The Policy discusses information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual ("Personal Data" or "Customer Information"). This information is collected through the use of the Site or participation in our Insider's Program. This information may identify you personally and can include, but is not necessarily limited to, your name, physical address, email address, IP address, phone number, payment information, social media information, and Site browsing activity. Additionally, OSJL may collect information that is more general and not specifically about you, otherwise known as "Non-Personal Customer Information." For example, we may collect and use aggregate sales information or browsing data to determine purchasing trends. Because this Non-Personal Customer Information cannot be linked to or identify any individual customer it is not governed by this policy.

Regarding Privacy.

OSJL takes the privacy of its customers very seriously. As such OSJL believes in protecting the confidentiality of our customers in accordance with their wishes and the applicable state and federal laws associated with collecting Customer Information. Use of the Site and our Insiders Program are our primary means of collecting the information necessary to improve the benefits and services OSJL provides you so that they are more unique and customized to you. While we may use this information for any purpose, we are particularly interested in using it to connect with you through online advertisements and suggestions, email, and mail notifications about products, services, and other opportunities that may be related to your preferences or previous buying experiences with OSJL.

By visiting this Site, you consent to the collection and use of your Personal Data as described herein. If you do not agree with the terms set out herein, please choose to opt out of collection as noted below or do not visit this Site. If required by applicable law, we will seek your explicit consent to process Personal Data collected on this Site or volunteered by you. Any consent given will be presumed to be entirely voluntary. However, if you do not grant the requested consent to the processing of your Personal Data, the use of this Site may not be possible.

How We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

Like most websites, we use cookies and other tracking technologies on our Site.

  • Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device. They may be served by the entity that operates the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by other companies ("third-party cookies"). For example, we partner with third-party analytics providers, like Google, that set cookies when you visit our Site. This helps us understand how you are using our services so that we can improve them.
  • Pixels are small images on a web page or in an email. Pixels collect information about your browser or device and can set cookies.
  • Local storage allows data to be stored locally on your browser or device and includes HTML5 local storage and browser cache.

We use cookies and other tracking technologies for a number of reasons, like helping us determine which features on our Site are most popular, counting visitors to a webpage, improving our users' experience, keeping our services secure and generally providing you with a better experience. The cookies we use typically fall into one of the following categories:

Category of Cookies Why We Use These Cookies
Strictly Necessary These cookies are needed for the operation of our Site. You cannot disable these cookies.
Functional These Cookies are used to improve website functionality and user experience. These Cookies remember user preferences and settings, such as language, currency, or login information, allowing for a more personalized browsing experience. These Cookies do not track users across different websites and are considered non-essential for website operation, but they can enhance user experience by eliminating the need for repetitive actions. The data collected through this Cookie is not associated with any individual person.
Analytics We use these cookies to help us understand and improve our services. For example, we can use these cookies to learn more about which features are the most popular with our users and where we may need to make improvements.
Advertising We and our advertising partners use these cookies to deliver advertisements, make the ads more relevant and meaningful to visitors to our website and track the efficiency of our advertising campaigns, both on our services and on other websites.

Our Site may use tracking cookies including, but not limited to, Facebook (Meta), AppNexus, Dotomi, DoubleClick, Index Exchange, PubMatic, Rubicion, TripleLift, Epsilon, Google Ads, Responsys, CDP Blueconic, Fresh Address, Fluent, HotJar and Google Analytics.

Our Site works with third-party products or services, including some of the above referenced providers ("Service Providers"), to offer and present our Site to you. These Service Providers may include, but are not limited to, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and other Service Providers who help us track and analyze our Site user activity, measure the effectiveness of our advertising efforts, and support the optimization of our digital campaigns.

Our Service Providers may get more information about your activity on our Site, including webpages you visit, access times, visit duration, how you arrived at our Site and your IP address. An IP address is a number that identifies a device connected to the internet. For most devices, the IP address changes on at least a weekly basis. Our Service Providers may also get device identifiers and specific information about the browser you use. In some cases, this information may be unique to you.

Additionally, our Site uses pixels which are HTML code snippets that are loaded when a user visits a website or opens an email. It is useful for tracking user behavior and activity. With a tracking pixel, advertisers can get data for online marketing, web analysis or email marketing. If such data is analyzed in a particular way, the data collected through these pixels can be used for other purposes as well, for example retargeting or behavioral advertising.

For example, OSJL deploys the Facebook Pixel on our website. The Facebook Pixel may enable Facebook to match Site visitors with their Facebook User Accounts. You can find out more about how Facebook collects and uses data by clicking here.

If you’d like to disable these tracking pixels, there are a number of ways in which you can prevent your data from being collected by tracking pixels:

  • Set browser and email settings to be as restrictive as possible such that external graphics are only supported after permission, and HTML emails are not supported. Appropriate firewall settings can also do this.
  • Some browser extensions can be used to make tracking pixels visible (e.g., PixelBlock, uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere, etc.).

For more information about Internet-based ads, or to opt-out of having your web browsing information used for behavioral advertising purposes, please visit http://optout.networkadvertising.org/ and http://www.aboutads.info/choices.

You can opt out of specific third-party targeted advertising by visiting the settings pages of those third parties, such as:

Please note that third parties (including, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) may also use cookies, over which we have no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies or targeting cookies.

Most internet browsers accept cookies by default, but you can change your browser preferences to block or restrict cookies if you do not want your web browsing activity tracked. Please note that some cookies are necessary for our website to run and, as such, cannot be declined. However, such cookies do not collect any personally identifiable information. If you choose, you may use the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) WebChoices Tool to globally opt out of third-party tracking via website cookies. There are also a variety of other tools publicly available to manage cookies and similar technologies that collect information related to your use of our website. To learn more about cookies and modifying your browser settings related to these cookies you can review guidance from the Federal Trade Commission [https://optout.aboutads.info].

We are not responsible for the effectiveness or compliance of third-party opt-out mechanisms or programs. Please note that if you remove your cookies or upgrade your browser after having opted out, you will need to opt out again. Your opt out is specific to the browser you are using and the device you use to access the Site. Therefore, if you use multiple browsers or devices you will need to opt out on each browser or device. You can access the information on our Site without enabling cookies in your browser, but disabling cookies may result in a diminished ability to take advantage of the services and related informational content on our Site.
